Best of all, these beauties are not only available on draught - they’re now canned, too, thanks to a $2 million investment by Breckenridge. So much so that in 2015, the brewery expanded its line up and launched an entire nitro series, which now includes Nitro Vanilla Porterand Nitro Lucky U IPA, and seasonal pours such as Nitro Orange Cream Ale in the summer, and Nitro Pumpkin Spice Latte Stout in the fall. However it can produce a less attractive foam with larger bubbles if left too long. Nitrous oxide has a very slight sweet flavour to it and produces the same effect with less time or shaking (virtually immediately). However it takes longer or more shaking to dissolve into your drink before you can serve. Pure nitrogen is flavourless and produces dense creamy head and cascading bubbles like a Guinness. There are 2 choices of gas to use in this system, either pure nitrogen (N2) or nitrous oxide (N2O). They are handy for carrying the insulated kegs and some spare gas and are like a big stubby cooler for the standard keg, extending the time they will stay cold.
